Pan Seared Salmon Recipe

Growing up in an Indian Household Hilsa aka Ilish is known as the King of Fish. Staying in North America for around 4 years compelled me to give this coveted title to Salmon. This fish is so versatile and delicious that you can bake, grill, fry and even have it raw(Sushi).

On top of that its super healthy with protein, vitamin B12, vitamin D, iron, less saturated fat and of course omega 3 fatty acids. Worthy of a King eh?

This recipe is one of the easiest, quickest and healthiest way to prepare Salmon.

Ingredients

1 filet of salmon(with or without skin)

 4-5 cloves of garlic

 2-3 twigs of thyme

 5-6 twigs of rosemary

 Salt to taste

 Pepper to taste

 Garlic powder to taste

Seafood seasoning (Alternatively you can use Red Pepper Powder, Garlic Powder, Onion Powder, Oregano/Italian Seasoning)

 2 tbsp olive oil

Instructions

  • Wash and remove the scales of the salmon filet’s skin. Some people like the scales but I prefer not to as it burns easily and ruins the taste.
  • Marinate the filet with with the seasonings, I.e. Salt, pepper, garlic, seafood seasoning. If you don’t have seafood seasoning, you can use paprika, onion powder, Italian seasoning.
  • Heat a pan and pour olive oil in it. Add the seasoned salmon fillet to it with skin side down. Add garlic, rosemary and thyme in it.
  • Keep the heat from medium to low and cover the pan.
  • Let the salmon cook for 10-12 mins and then check if the redness of salmon has gone.
  • Turn off the heat and let it stay for 2 mins and your salmon is ready to eat.
  • Squeeze  some lime on top of the salmon and serve hot.
